Please visit Windows Compatibility center and see if the Carbonite version that you are using is compatible with Windows I would suggest you to install the application in compatibility mode and check if it helps. Right click on setup file. Click on Properties.

Click on Compatibility tab. Put a check mark on Run this program in compatibility mode for. Select the supported operating system. I’m having a similar problem with Carbonite on my new Windows 10 system.

The solution suggested above has not worked. This does not help. Carbonite techs have gone onto my computer and can not find an answer to my problem. Below is their response. The issue is not with the default browser. Regardless what your default browser is, the problem is related to how the computer connects to the internet behind the scenes.

This is done from settings within Internet Explorer and can not be resolved by changing the default browser. I did try to call and was told you were out of the office. The error message we are receiving in the info center is a very common Microsoft message and any Microsoft technician should be able to assist you with why this is happening and resolve it.
