Smart fill tool – Feedback for Affinity Designer on Desktop – Affinity | Forum.Texture Fill In Affinity Designer | The Correct Workaround
The following video tutorial will walk you through the entire process of applying texture fills in Affinity Designer:. Navigate over to the Stock tab located all the way to the right of the Layers menu tab and choose your preferred stock photo site from the menu dropdown. Both are free stock photo sites with countless images, textures, and various design elements to choose from.
Either choice should be fine. It should be fairly large once imported, and a small menu will populate indicating the user who contributed that image:. Once the texture is imported onto the document, you can apply it to an object as a fill by creating a clipping mask.
To do so, open the Layers tab and click and drag the texture layer on top of the subject layer. When done correctly, the texture image should be placed inside of the object:. As previously mentioned, whenever you apply a texture fill in Affinity Designer using the Stock tab, the image will be really large once imported. Affinity – Professional Creative Software. How To Pattern Fill with Affinity Designer
To do so, open the Layers tab and click and drag the texture layer on top of the subject layer. When done correctly, the texture image should be placed inside of the object:. As previously mentioned, whenever you apply a texture fill in Affinity Designer using the Stock tab, the image will be really large once imported.
In this step we will be adjusting the texture fill to accommodate the subject it is applied to. Grab the Move Tool keyboard shortcut: V and use the transformation handles to adjust your texture fill as needed:.
If the transformations are being made to the entire subject and not just the texture fill, you may need to expand the object layer in the Layers tab so you can select the texture fill layer. Navigate over to the Layers tab and locate the subject the texture is applied to. Moving it up will place it above the subject and moving it down will place it beneath the subject.
Now you can either delete the texture or turn off its visibility in the Layers menu. This forward-thinking approach to keeping things simple and efficient is part of what makes Affinity Designer such a brilliant piece of software. Want to learn more about how Affinity Designer works? I’m not sure if there is such a tool in AI, perhaps the “Live Paint Bucket Tool” is the most similar tool to that, but it’s really a simple and very useful tool.
A Pathfinder Tool would construct new shapes from existing ones, whereas a Smart Fill Tool would create new shapes from the space enclosed by existing shapes. Can this topic be moved to “feature request”? Glicky, it’s been forever since I used CorelDraw, and I am interested in a fill tool that works on shape intersections as well.
So I ask, how would the flood fill affect intersections with strokes? Like in your third example, if you moved that middle object away after it was filled in, would the stroke then be part of that new fill? The website is still a work in progress. The “Comics” and “Shop” sections are not yet ready. Feel free to connect with me and let me know what you like or what can be improved.

Considering that people, some of whom have been hopping up and down about it, have been asking for a mesh warp tool for a few years, I suspect the dev team might be more likely to devote time to that. Or maybe a blend tool. Both the infill on the ring design, and the form from the intersecting lines can be done already w.
Its not my decision, but I’d have to put something like that well down on the list of really good to have. Attached, a sloppy figure, but the sections were colored in just about 1 min, 15 sec. Most of that time was just opening the swatch group, and assigning a color for each shape. Maybe something similar will be added in a future update. Oh they are definitely aware of it, though I think it has more to do with the approach to bring in a new feature.
They have mentioned how the Flood Tool in DrawPlus did not work the way they wanted it to because of the gap space it created. So I guess it has to do with implementing a tool right before they release it. You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Paste as plain text instead. Only 75 emoji are allowed. To achieve a black background for this transparent image you could place it on top of a layer which contains a black object, e. Also a Picture Frame with a black fill color will work, this object may contain the image, too, and cause easier handling this way.
Thank you! I didn’t quite figure it out in Publisher, but I was able to open up Paint 3D and I swear even though I previously tried it, this time I was able to black fill in the transparent background. So then I just dragged that new saved image into the look book I’m creating in Publisher. You can post now and register later.
